Rental Car Terms & Conditions
Driving Licence And Minimum Age
• A valid licence issued at least 12 months.
• Customer must be minimum:
• 19 years old to rent cars up to 1900 engine power
• 25 years old for cars with higher engine power
• Customer is obliged to communicate to the car hiring location at
rental start any other person that might drive the vehicle though he
will be held responsible in any case.
• Customers under 23 years old will be charged as follows:
€ 13,00 per day from 19 to 20 years; € 6,20 per day from 21 to 22 years;
• Second driver must meet same requirements as the first driver. An extra charge will be applied as follows:
€ 3,70 per day; € 18,60 per week; € 37,20 per month;
PAYMENT:
Major credit cards are accepted ; customer is also subject to the payment of a deposit equal to a 50% of the deductibles.
Refuelling Charge
Vehicles
are rented with a full tank and should be returned with the same,
otherwise besides the missing fuel an extra charge of € 12,40 will be
applied as a "Refuelling charge".
Domestic One-Way Rentals
An
extra charge of € 46,50 per rental will be applied if cars are returned
in a different city. For rentals from the mainland to Sicily and
viceversa the extra charge will be € 62,00 per rental. From March 1 st
2004 one way rentals between mainland and Sardinia and viceversa are
not allowed.
Maggiore may at its own discretion refuse one-way rental to / from certain areas for particular car groups.
International One-Way Rentals
International
One-Way rentals are allowed abroad only for previously authorised
groups and cities. Information regarding the cost for one way surcharge
can be given by our Sales Department T.O.
Any
drop-off not previously authorised will imply a penalty equal to the
maximum surcharge plus all costs necessary to pick up the vehicle.
Maggiore may refuse one way rentals to/from certain areas and particular groups of vehicles.
Vehicle Return
•
At rental start customer will be asked where and when vehicle will be
dropped off. If he wishes to extend the rental beyond the term agreed
or wishes to drop off the vehicle in a different city the renting
office where the car was picked up should be notified.
•
Rental days are based on 24 hours periods starting at the time the
vehicle is collected. Late return, over 24 hours and 59 minutes will be
subject to an additional day charge.
• For those
rates linked to a determinate rental length (such as weekend), should
the vehicle be returned after the 59 minutes grace the whole rental
will be charged at daily rate.
• Vehicle returned
out of office hours are accepted but should be agreed in advance with
the check-out location. Charge will be based on the office reopening
hours .
• The rental will be closed only when the keys are returned unless customer gives a statement of loss or theft.
• In case of loss or theft of the rented vehicle keys a surcharge of € 155,00 will be applied.
•
The vehicle should be returned, except for the fair wear and tear, in
the same conditions and with the same optionals as at rental start.
Driving
• Customer is allowed to drive in all the European Countries except for those listed on the rental agreement.
• Customer is responsible for the correct usage and for any ordinary maintenance of the vehicle.

The customer will be charged for the Road Tax of an extra € 1,70 per
each rental day (maximum charge of 18 days per rental).
Insurance And Extra Services
Third Party Liability Insurance - RCA
Maggiore's
RCA guarantees as insurance against civil liability for causing death
or bodily injury to third parties or damage to animals and property up
to a maximum of 15.000.000 euro.
In case of
accident customer must report the happening by filling in the CID form
with the counterpart and hand it to the nearest Maggiore renting
location within 24 hours.
Collision wavier: Zero deductable on all cars.
Vehicle's Theft And Fire Deductible (T.P.)
Client
is considered responsible in case of theft or fire. This responsibility
is conventionally limited to a max., except in case of fraudulence or
gross negligence of the Client or the driver up to the sum that varies
in consideration of the vehicle's category and is indicated as
"deductible". The rental fee includes this limitation of responsibility
and is indicated as "Theft Protection (TP). Client's responsibility can
be conventionally eliminated undersigning the option " Total Theft Protection Waiver " (STP). Both TP and STP are not considered as insurance policies, but
as limitation agreements that reduce or exclude the indemnity due from
the Client. In all the cases above foreseen Client's responsibility in
case of partial theft and fire is regulated in accordance with what
foreseen in the following paragraph "Damages". In all cases of total or
partial theft Client is obliged to denounce the occurrence to the local
authorities and hand over a copy of the Police report to Maggiore's
nearest location. Any limitation or reduction of responsibility decay
in case of total theft and keys are not returned.
Optional Insurance
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
The
client may ask for a vehicle endowed with PAI coverage. This is an
insurance policy covering, within the specified limits, against the
risk of injury sustained by the driver when driving or, during use, by
the vehicle's passengers. If PAI is requested and agreed upon in the
rental contract, the following amounts shall be paid out for singles
vehicles: euro 51.645,64 in the event of death or permanent disability;
in the latter case a deductible is applied, corresponding to ten
percentage points of the ascertained degree of permanent disability,
where the disability resulting from the injury exceeds 10 % of total
disability. If the disability resulting from the injury is less than
10% of total disability, the insured party shall not be accorded
damages; euro 5.164,56 for medical expenses, per injury and person.
Coverage for medical expenses includes the application of a fixed
franchise for each injury and each person transported. There shall be a
30% reduction in the above sum for the reimbursement of expenses
relating to physical therapy, medicines, spa/thermal treatment and the
purchase or rental of proteic and therapeutic equipment. Reimbursement
of medical expenses shall be paid out with the application of a fixed
franchise of euro 1.549,37. Reimbursement shall not be paid out for

PAI cost per day is of euro 6,25.
Personal Travel Insurance (PTI)
PTI is a full insurance package that guarantees a pleasant and worry-free time during the whole car rental period providing:
Luggage and Personal Belongings Protection
In
case of luggage theft or damage due to a collision, customer is
entitled to a refund up to euro 1.032,91. With a maximum refund euro
258,23 in case of robbery or bag-snatching and up to a maximum of euro
516,46 for sports crafts secured outside the car. Luggage and personal
belongings are not covered if stolen in an unlocked car and/or during
the hours from 10.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. when vehicle is unguarded.
Personal Civil Liability
If
during the rental period the subscriber of the rental agreement, the
second driver (if nominated) and relatives travelling with him,
accidentally cause damage to a third party they are insured up to a
maximum of euro 51.645,69. For example: if your son, during the rental
period, breaks a window playing football, no problem! PTI will deal
with it.

Damages
Indipendently
from the circumstances, in case of damage to the vehicle during the
rental period, the Client is considered responsible and has to pay for
the damage. This responsibility is conventionally limited to a max. sum
that varies on the basis of the kind of rented vehicle and is indicated
as "deductible". The rental fee includes this limitation of
responsibility and is indicated as "Collision Damage Waiver" (CDW).
Client's responsibility in these cases can be conventionally eliminated
undersigning the option "Total Collision Damage Waiver" (SKO).
The accident must be reported within 24 hours to a Maggiore S.p.A. renting location. If
undersigned the rental fee will be fixed keeping in consideration the
terms of liability exclusion. In any case the CDW and SKO are in the
case of this liability limitation not considered as insurance policies, but as limitation agreements that reduce or exclude the indemnity due from the client.
Client
will not be charged for the damage in the case that he produces a CID
form for the accident, where it is clearly indicated the responsibility
of the counterpart.
Expenses
Incidental
charges customer might support for the rented vehicle are refundable
provided that an invoice registered in Maggiore Rent S.p.A. name is
handed over.
Replacement
If customer needs to replace the rented vehicle such service is offered by all the renting locations upon availability.
Maggiore
Rent S.p.A. may at its own discretion refuse to provide a replacement
car in case if theft, fire, total destruction or irreparable damage to
the rented car.
Free Services
• Free 24 hours a day emergency assistance service available throughout Italy dialling 800 400 070 or + 39 02 58 286 141.
This service is available in case:
• the car stops for mechanical & electric problems or serious body-car damages;
• key loss;
• theft and fire damage;
• problems as damaged or punctured or flat tyres;
• wrong fuel refuelling;
Once
called the emergency number an authorised lorry driver will reach the
customer and try to solve the problem on spot in order that client can
continue to keep the same rented vehicles. In case the vehicle cannot
be repaired client can ask to Maggiore Assistance Service to organize
the continuation of its trip by taxi or public transportation or the
overnight stay until will get the substitute vehicle to the nearest
Maggiore Location.
Successively Maggiore Customer
Care Office will reimburse client up to 104,00 euro for the overnight
stay and up to 362,00 euro for the taxi by previous forwarding of all
invoices and receipts.

Client Will Be Charged For:
• Deductible supplements and services
• Fuel and V.A.T.
• Traffic Fines or any other sanction due to incautious entrust of the
vehicle (according to the Italian Circulation law)
• Airport Fees will be added on extra services and equipment except for the fuel;
• 8 % railway surcharge for rentals that start in our locations
situated in the Railway Station of Roma Termini and Milano Centrale.
Delivery & Collection
Delivery or collection out of Maggiore renting offices:
Within renting office city limits euro 15,50 per rental;
Out of renting office city limits euro 1,00 per kilometer with a minimum charge of euro 15,50 per rental;
Such charges will be doubled in case the service is done out of renting location's opening hours
Out Of Hour Service
Should
vehicle be picked-up or returned out of office opening hours and the
presence of the employee is need an extra charge of euro 25,80 will be applied.
