This land produces Barolo and Barbaresco, some of Italy’s top reds on par with Tuscany’s Brunello, as well as aromatic white truffles, sweet peppers, hazel nuts and chocolate.
The first weekend of Alba’s famous truffle fair in October, before you visit truffle vendors, watch the donkey race. Riders in medieval costumes compete on donkeys who clearly do not want to be there. Hilarious!
