In quaint, little walled hill town of Montalcino, home of Brunello, one of Italy’s top red wines, stay at a lovely hotel with gardens, pool and amazing views. Experience cooking Tuscan specialties with a charming restaurant owner/chef in a small mountain hamlet and a lively chef in a top restaurant in Montepulciano. Have lunch with artisan olive oil producer who shows you his exotic, organic gardens and discover how he makes olive oil with his traditional granite wheel. Learn about Brunello in a private tasting at a wine estate. Discover Vino Nobile di Montepulciano with a winery owner in his 14th century wine cellars. A Tuscan buffet for your senses and soul!

4 Night Italy Cooking School Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Pre-cruise: Private transport in the afternoon from Rome (central place TBA) to Montalcino in southern Tuscany.

Post-cruise: Private transport from Civitavecchia cruise port near Rome to Montalcino in southern Tuscany.

Check in at a lovely superior three star hotel with garden, pool, and vast views

Welcome dinner at a typical restaurant in Montalcino, home of Brunello wine.

Day 2

Drive into the beautiful countryside about 9 km from Montalcino. Visit Alberto’s organic farm and olive groves. Lunch there. He’s a great cook and wants to keep traditional Tuscan recipes alive. After lunch, discover how he makes olive oil with his traditional granite wheel and learn all you ever wanted to know about olives and oil in a discussion.

Down the road from Alberto’s, visit a family’s winery where they make excellent Brunello. Tour the winery, taste the wines, learn all about Brunello.

On the way back to Montalcino, stop at spectacular 1000 year old Romanesque church, Sant’Antimo, set in an idyllic Tuscan valley of olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees.

In Montalcino, a guided stroll to discover the town with your guide.

Light dinner on your own in Montalcino. (not included). After your big lunch, you’ll want to eat light.

Day 3

Drive to Montepulciano, a bigger walled hill town with spectacular views, home to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, also a top Italian red.

Cooking class in an excellent restaurant in Montepulciano with lunch of your creations.

Short guided walk in Montepulciano. Many good wine, leather and houseware shops.

Drive across the valley to hill town, Montefollonico to visit a Vino Nobile producer in his cellars in a 14th century palazzo. Learn about and taste Vino Nobile, Rosso di Montepulciano and Vin Santo.

Dinner on your own in Montalcino.

Day 4

Drive up into the hills of Mont’Amiata to a restaurant where food lovers drive miles to reach, for cooking class with charming, very popular chef & owner, Roberto. His restaurant specializes in mushroom dishes. Divine cuisine is “creative Tuscan” style. Lunch of your creations.

Drive to Pienza, a small walled town famous for its pecorino cheeses. Guided walk.

Light farewell dinner at a wine bar in Montalcino with your main guide. After a huge meal at noon, you’ll want only a light dinner.

Day 5

Pre-cruise tour: After leisurely breakfast, check out of hotel, private transport to Civitavecchia to board ship. Stop enroute for light lunch (included).

Post-cruise tour: After leisurely breakfast, check out of hotel, private transport to Rome. For Florence or other destinations, please ask us.
