"My wife, Kim, and I recently returned from a 5 week trip to Europe where we saw Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Out of our entire trip I would have to say, and I am sure my wife would not correct me, that our Cooking & Spa package in Tuscany was the most enjoyable, and represented the best value for the entire trip.
I had researched Cooking Tours online prior to our vacation as I enjoy cooking and consider the cuisine to be an important part of a cultural immersion. I settled on Mama Margaret & Friends after talking direct to many of the tour operators. Based on our travel plans, Margaret was very flexible, and planned a tour that would accommodate our needs and itinerary.
We received a comprehensive daily agenda prior to leaving and I have to say it did not prepare us for what Mama Margaret had in store. The actual tour far surpassed our expectations, and we even had an opportunity to spend a day with Margaret who had traveled over from her home in Canada. Even when we had a cancellation in one of the cooking lessons ( a family illness) our day was quickly filled with an extended tour of the Orchia Valley, wine and dining that in my opinion exceeded our original expectations.
Our Escorts were very engaging and treated us more like friends than clients. We have been in routine contact with them since our return, and I believe we have made great interpersonal connections with them both. Sarah & Klaus were both fluent in English & Italian and help my wife and I begin to learn this fantastic language. They were both very knowledgeable in the area and help us understand what we were seeing from a historical & cultural perspective, and were both very accommodating with my need to stop and photograph everything!
The Cooking Lessons and Wine tastings were top notch, it is hard to rate one above another as they all provided us with unique insight and knowledge into the beauty, and often times simplicity, of Italian wines and food. I have been amazing my friends and family since returning with my expanded knowledge and amazing recipes. I would advise anyone taking this tour to buy a journal and take note. These have allowed me to capture the bulk of the tips, techniques and most importantly recipes from the most beautiful region of Italy.
Our lodging and accommodations were superb. We stayed at the Villa Cicolina that provided phenomenal lodging, service and amenities. I would highly recommend one of Margaret's tours to anyone thinking about touring Tuscany. "
