Gastronomic Delights, Lovely Medieval Hill Towns
With your guide my colleague Marcello and Umbria B&B owners, Maria and Guelfo, you'll feel Italian for a week,
like your local Italian friends are taking you to their favourite places and people---many where other tourists never go!
East of Tuscany lies Umbria, the green heart of Italy, its lush, peaceful, mountains, hills and valleys full of gastronomic delights: top quality olive oil, great red wines like Sangrantino, truffles, mushrooms, Norcia salamis, farro, lentils, grilled meat, game birds, chocolate, and honey.
You'll be enthralled by Umbria's hilltowns with medieval walls and palazzos, ancient stone streets and vast panoramas of mountains, forests, olive groves, grain fields, vineyards and rolling hills. You'll explore pink Assisi with its outstanding St. Francis cathedral and Giotto's frescoes and the famous Sagrantino wine town of Montefalco with Gozzoli's Renaissance era frescoes.

Norcia's lovely piazza |
In Bevagna you'll admire the pretty Romanesque piazza, and a jewel like 19th century theatre, and
see a public basin where women still wash clothes by hand.
Trevi, the olive oil capital of Umbria, is dramatically perched up high with 200,000 olive trees covering the surrounding hills.
Norcia is famous all over Italy for its salami, ham and sausage shops steps away from its exquisite medieval piazza.
So many breathtaking Italian sights! So much wonderful food to eat!
Your Country House & Home in Umbria
Your home for the week is a very nice, well maintained, modern country house B & B, an "agriturismo", set in hills of olive groves overlooking Bevagna with spectacular views of the valley towards Assisi.
Owners Guelfo and Maria will soon feel like family! They're so hospitable and friendly--they'd do almost anything for you. Every morning in their homey, country style dining room with fireplace, they welcome you for a breakfast buffet that includes their jams and baking. They also produced wonderful olives and olive oil.
The 10 pleasant double rooms, each with private bathroom, have quality wood furniture and comfortable beds, and many have splendid valley views.
In the warm weather, you can sip a cool drink or glass of wine on the balconies and admire the views, or relax out in the garden. Accommodation pictures
You'll cook hands-on with three Italian restaurant chefs and a home cook, and create wonderful dishes focusing on fresh local products. You'll savour plates like bruschette with Norcia salami or lentil sauce, a flan with farro grain and lentils, pasta with Norcia sausage, truffles and cream, roast lamb with arugola, trout with truffle cream and veal with Sagrantino wine and radicchio. |
