Tour Itinerary

Sunday

Arrive at Foligno railway station. Private transfer to our nice country house B & B set among olive groves in the hills with splendid views above Bevagna. Walking tour of historic centre of Bevagna with an art history professor. Dinner in a restaurant in Bevagna.

Monday

Drive to Montefalco to visit the famous Arnaldo Caprai winery and taste their Sagrantino wine, now considered one of the best red wines in Italy.

Visit an olive oil mill in Trevi, see how olive oil is produced, taste oils. Free time to explore Trevi, shop, admire the awe inspiring views. Lunch in the medieval centre of Trevi at a typical restaurant.

Italian cooking lesson on olive oil, truffle and mushroom specialties. Dinner of your creations.

Tuesday

Drive to Perugia, Umbria's capital, which boasts Etruscan and Roman monuments, lovely historic centre with architecture of many periods, art museums and a main street full of shops, cafes and bakeries. Perugia is also home to the famous Baci--kisses--chocolates and is famous for chocolate.

Guided walk of the historic centre. Lunch in Perugia. Free time to shop or laze at a cafe and watch the local world go by..

Drive to Deruta to visit a ceramic laboratory.

Walk in the charming town of Montefalco, called the Terrace of Umbria for its magnificent views. Visit a shop of lovely, hand made linens and textiles.

Dinner in a great restaurant.

Wednesday

Drive into the mountains to a truffle hunting and Italian farming family’s home and B & B with fantastic valley and mountain views. They have horses, dogs, and vegetable and fruit gardens too. Coffee and snack there. Truffle hunt with dogs 45 minutes in the hills. Lunch with the gregarious family at home.

On the way back we stop in Spoleto, Italy for a guided walk of this lovely hill town.

Italian cooking lesson on a full menu of creative Umbrian dishes with a fine Spoleto restaurant chef in his restaurant. Dinner of your creations in the restaurant.

Thursday

Drive in the Valnerina valley to the Plains of Castelluccio, where the best lentils of Italy
" lenticchia di Castelluccio" are produced. View is spectacular. Light lunch.

Visit Norcia, famous all over Italy for its cured meats. Tour a “salumificio” to see how meats are cured.

Explore Norcia’s historic centre with Italian foodie shops and lovely medieval piazza.

Dinner at a typical trattoria to taste the best salumi of Umbria.

Friday

In Assisi, Italy, stroll one hour with a local guide in the famous church of St. Francis with frescoes by Giotto, and in the historic centre. Free hour to explore and shop in Assisi. Lunch at a winery.

Cooking lesson at your country house home with Maria on dishes with local grains. Dinner there.

Saturday

Departure for Foligno train station after breakfast.
